The film is also titled The Story of a Man and a Country. As director Nebil Özgentürk recounts the life of the legendary Zülfü Livaneli, he simultaneously — almost inevitably — unfolds a panorama of Turkey’s social and political transformations over the past nearly seventy years. Woven from eyewitness accounts, archival material, and staged reconstructions, the documentary portrays Livaneli not only as an artist but as a steadfast international advocate for peace and freedom. A life inscribed in the memory of a nation; a timeless call of conscience. A major documentary achievement. After 18 months of intensive work, the film was completed and celebrated its premiere in Istanbul. Its first international screening now takes place in Nuremberg — in the presence of Zülfü Livaneli and director Nebil Özgentürk.
